Okonomiyaki (Savory Pancake) お好み焼き


  • 3 cup shredded cabbage

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup okonomiyaki flour

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 2 stalks green onion

  • okonomiyaki sauce (I use the Otafuku brand)

  • japanese mayo

  • aonori (for garnish)

  • katsuobushi / bonito flakes (for garnish)

  • beni-shoga (for garnish)


  1. Prepare ingredients - cut cabbage into one-inch by quarter-inch shredded pieces, chop green onions

  2. Make batter - combine okonomiyaki flour, water, eggs and mix, then add in cabbage, green onions, and beni-shoga (optional), and mix until well incorporated

  3. Grill it - on a hot oiled pan, pour the batter in a circle shape, fry for 3 minutes then flip and fry for another 4 minutes

  4. Serve it up - add okonomiyaki sauce and mayo, garnish with aonori, katsuobushi and beni-shoga

  5. Enjoy!
