Sukiyaki すき焼き

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb sliced beef

  • 1/2 onion

  • 1 stalk negi (Japanese leek)

  • 1 pack yaki tofu (broiled tofu)

  • 1 pack shirataki noodles

  • 1/2 napa cabbage

  • 1 bunch mizuna (Japanese mustard greens)

  • 1 pack enoki mushroom

  • 1 pack shimeji mushroom (optional)

  • 1 cup sake (for sauce)

  • 1 cup mirin (for sauce)

  • 1 cup soy sauce (for sauce)

  • 1-1.5 cup dashi (for sauce)

  • ¼ cup sugar (for sauce)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare ingredients - cut up all ingredients

  2. Cook ingredients - in a pan / skillet, cook onion, negi, then add napa cabbage, mizuna, yaki tofu, shirataki noodles and mushrooms

  3. Simmer in sukiyaki sauce - combine sauce ingredients and pour into pan / skillet, then simmer until cooked

  4. Serve it up - serve with a bowl of rice, and optionally, you can eat this with scrambled raw egg as a dipping sauce (but please use caution and buy pasteurized eggs!)
